AHLSTRÖM COMPANIES MAKE A SIGNIFICANT DONATION TO FINNISH EDUCATION

A. Ahlström Osakeyhtiö and Ahlström Capital Oy each donate 100,000 euros, i.e. a total of 200,000 euros, to Hanken School of Economics and Åbo Akademi University to support education and research in Finnish universities.

The companies were formed in 2001 through the demerger of the original A. Ahlström Osakeyhtiö, which started operations in 1851. The now listed company Ahlstrom Corporation has its origin in the same demerger. Ahlstrom Corporation has made a decision to donate 500,000 euros to Aalto University. Thus the Ahlström companies' donations to Finnish universities amount to a total of 700,000 euros.

Throughout its history, Ahlström has given support to Finnish education; many schools in different parts of Finland were founded with the financial aid of Ahlström. Every year since 1926 Walter Ahlström Foundation has granted scholarships to young engineers for postgraduate studies. The newly formed Eva Ahlström Foundation aims to support underprivileged women, children and adolescents in Finland and inter-nationally through cooperation with established non-governmental organisations.
